Construction
- The HMS pumps have horizontal foot mounted design, single or multistage, with vertically split suction, intermediate and discharge casings.
- The casings are clamped together by external tie-bolts and sealed with Gasket. '0' rings are required for the design, pumping temperature of the liquid and the construction of the pump.
Sealing Arrangements
- Conventional soft graphite packed stuffing boxes are incorporated on either side of the pump. The shaft is fitted with the renewable shaft sleeve in the region of the stuffing boxes, which protects the shaft from wear due to packing.
- This standard construction is recommended for operating temperature up to 90 degree C.
- For higher temperature from 90 to 140 degree C, special water jacketed stuffing box are fitted, which maintain the temperature in the stuffing box region within acceptable limits.
- For special applications, special design of stuffing boxes or mechanical seals can be fitted as required.
Impellers
- HMS Impellers are made of close grained cast iron, enclosed type, machined all over.
- The outer surfaces are finished by hand.
- The impeller with rotating assembly is dynamically balanced to eliminate vibrations.
- Pumps with phosphor bronze or stainless steel impellers can be supplied on request. Open or closed impellers are available.
Shaft
- High tensile steel, accurately machined and ground.
- Supported on journal bearing.
- Its critical speed is well above the pump operating speed and is protected from wear in the stuffing box area by shaft sleeves.
Bearings
- Bearings are enclosed in two bearing housings one on each side.
- Two cylindrical roller bearings of ample size are provided to take the radial load.
Drive
- The prime mover should be directly connected to the pump through a flexible coupling.
- The direction of rotation is clock wise as viewed from the driving end.
Materials Of Construction
- The standard supply of pump with C.I casing high tensile steel shaft and C.I or bronze impellers and internal parts in accordance to operating conditions or customers special requirements.
- Materials such as all or partial bronze, cast carbon steel or stainless steel can be supplied.
