Made from white silk cocoons, taffeta silk comes in following widths 44”, 54”, 60”, 108”. This fabric varies from country to country and come in plain, crossing colors, stripes, checks, jacquards, printed & embroidery silks. The taffeta silks are used for both furnishing & garments.
Taffeta silk is one of the oldest luxury fabrics, which was woven in the early part of the century by the Persians. Present version of taffeta is a fine, smooth and a firmly woven fabric with very fine crosswise ribs. Taffeta silk looks same from both sides and has almost same number of yarns in both directions. The fabric may be soft or stiff, and light to medium in weight. |
