About Guar :
Guar has been grown for centuries in semi-arid zones of North Western India and adjoining areas of Pakistan, where it is one of the principal crops and used as a food for both humans and animals. The Guar plant is about 4-5 feet high with 5-8 cms long pods and each pod on plant contains grayish-white seed, which is known as Guar Seed. The Guar seed is dicotyledonous, having a diameter of about 1/8”. Pods are used by humans as vegetable and remaining part of the plant is used for cattle feed. It is also cultivated in Texas (USA), South Africa, Malawi and Sudan (not in large commercial quantity).
Guar is an annual crop that requires two rainfalls to grow and does not require any fertilizer to grow. The seed is sown at the end of July after first rainfall and harvested in November (usually 90 days crop). When buds come out, it requires one more good rainfall and after blossoming starts it requires good sunshine and dry weather. As soon as crop ripes, it is harvested before any rain following the frost, to avoid lower yield of gum and contamination with black specks. The yield of crop depends on number of pods per plant and number of seeds per pod.
About Guar Gum :
Guar Gum is a polysaccharide, which is obtained from the endosperm of the Guar seed. (Cyanaposis Tetragonolobus, family Leguminosae). The endosperm of Guar seed is obtained by removing hull and germ.
Guar Gum is cold water and hot water soluble (in colloidal form only). It is one of the most common & economical thickener and stabilizer used in food industry, in industrial applications. Guar gum under our flagship brand "aargum", is free flowing powder & available in different particle size with different viscosities. We have different grades having viscosity range from 3000 cps to 6000 cps.
