| Description: |
We started with setting up of a special school for Mentally Retarded and Learning Disabled Individuals. The trust is now running a Parental Counseling Centre, a Vocational Training Centre, a programme for early identification and prevention of disabilities. It has also established a resource centre for learning disabilities.
So far the institution has offered special education for 213 mentally retarded children; vocational training for 73 adult mentally retarded and counseled 2591 parents. Sadhana Trust has collaborated with ‘CORAID’ – The Netherlands and provided remedial education for 810 learning disabled children. Besides, it also cares for the needs of 4,022 disabled children under the inclusive education (SSA-IED) programme of the Indian Government. The future programme is to establish an Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences with a multidisciplinary approach. |
